Elvis Fleming.
J. B. "Billy" Mathews: Biography of a Lincoln County Deputy. Yucca Tree Press, 1999. He rode in the Lincoln County War, wounded Billy the Kid, then became Postmaster of Roswell.

Mark L. Gardner.
Jack Thorp's Songs of the Cowboys. Museum of New Mexico Press, 2005. The early cowboy songs Jack Thorp collected in Southeastern New Mexico and West Texas and some he wrote including “Who’s Old Cow” about Add Jones and “The Cowboys New Year’s Dance,” set in Roswell.
